Bible journalling supplies one year on

I've been Bible journalling for over a year now so I thought I'd update my supplies list.

I had an email recently telling me about 'NEW Must-Have Tools' for my Bible journalling. The things the email was trying to sell me were very pretty and I'm sure I could have made use of them in my journalling, but they were in no way 'must-have tools'. (As an aside, that email has sort of put me off that company because it seems really pushy in some of its marketing in trying to get people to part with cash by persuading them that they can't possibly be journalling properly or getting the most out of their Bibles if they don't have their particular products.)

As I've said before, the only things you really need to Bible art journal are a Bible of some description, something to make a mark with and something to make a mark on, which may or may not be the Bible.

• I'm still using my NIV mint polka dot Bible primarily, which has double column text and a 1.5" lined margin on every page. I've recently bought a pink polka dot version of the same Bible, which has unlined margins, as this one is getting quite full.

• I used to prep my pages regularly, but now I don't bother. Some products I use can bleed through, but if I use them over pencils or watercolours they don't.

• To add text I've switched from my Pentel pen, which I had had some issues with, to various colours of Micron pens and PITT artist pens. I have mixed feelings about the PITT artist pens. I know of some people who swear by them, but I've found that in my Bible they shadow horribly and often bleed through the pages - even with the lighter colours. The colours are good though, and I'm still working with them to see if I can get better results.

•  One other thing I've started doing is using a separate notebook to write and sketch ideas and thoughts in. I use notebooks that have a few pages with Bible art to colour, and verses printed on every page. My favourites are these from brownlow.com, although I found them in my local Christian bookshop.

• My other supplies are still the same as when I started - a 2B pencil to sketch ideas, Prismacolor soft core coloured pencils, watercolour pencils, Derwent Inktense pencils, and my small travel palette of Windsor & Newton watercolour paints.
